Following our first report last year for our beloved 360-degree format on arte, we are delighted to have been given the go-ahead for a new episode next year. This time, we are heading to Kolkata, India, where our Creative Director Heiko Aufdermauer shot a film 20 years ago. The focus this time is on a young ‘idol maker’ from a small village near Kolkata who grew up in a family that has been making large and small statues of gods for generations, which are carried through the streets in an exhilarating parade during the annual Durgapuja festival in Kolkata. We believe that this theme will give us the opportunity to gently tell the story of an ancient tradition that is now confronted with the upheavals of our globalised present – for example, the acceleration of the social fabric's drift apart due to climate change – also in India. Look forward to a bit of cinema – on television.
