The subject is a mountain village in the Rhodope Mountains in Bulgaria that is defying its own demise. Only 60 of the former 900 inhabitants are left. There is no longer a school, many houses are empty and the old mountain paths are overgrown. Nevertheless, the oldest chapel in the area is currently being restored by the villagers and will be ceremonially opened next year. A process in which even the elders are still involved.
