COMPLETE SEASON - KNOWLEDGE FROM BERLIN<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

The task for our film production was to produce the new season of the YouTube series \u201cWissen aus Berlin\u201d 2023 for the Berlin University Alliance, the association of Berlin's largest universities. <\/span><\/p>\n

We wanted to break new ground in format development together with the researchers. Our declared aim was to be informative and entertaining and in this way to reach a somewhat larger circle of viewers.<\/p>

SCIENCE COMMUNICATION<\/span><\/p>\n

Untold stories lie dormant in all research. Storytelling means passing on knowledge, research findings and experiences in such a way that they are understood, shared and ideally motivate viewers to take action. Stories are good at passing on even very complex knowledge - just think of storytelling research geniuses like Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking. <\/span><\/p>\n

Given the sheer volume of videos on the web - and especially on platforms like Youtube - science communication is finding it increasingly difficult to reach its target audience.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, this is important in order to, for example <\/span>mobilize a critical mass of viewers or participants for a conference or event - or generate funding<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

WORKSHOP<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Eight different research areas - from social sciences to law, around 50 participants - and a multitude of hopes and fears associated with the production of the videos.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>In a one-day workshop led by us, we explored the question of how narrative, dramaturgical and aesthetic means can be adapted for the individual projects. The most important thing was <\/span>the initiating impulse that came from this workshop<\/b> carried us through the entire film production.<\/span><\/h3><\/div>

IMPLEMENTATION<\/h3>

Knowledge does not emerge in a vacuum, but always starts from concrete research.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In addition to several interviews, the visual integration of the initial situation of each research was the core idea of our implementation. Case studies are often not only more exciting than talking heads, but also have the advantage that they make the relevance of the individual research clear to viewers who are far removed from the research. In a period of about 3 months, eight visually and narratively exciting videos were created in this way - in which sometimes brittle research is told in an entertaining way to appeal to a new audience that has grown up with Netflix.<\/p>

SIMILAR PROJECTS<\/h3>

We enjoy working in the field of science communication, not least because of the teaching and research activities of our Creative Director.<\/span><\/p>

In recent years, we have produced a wide variety of videos and films for Berlin universities, for the IPN Kiel, the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel, various research institutions and, most recently, for the International Youth Science Olympics.<\/span><\/p>

Whenever possible, we have mixed popular genre forms (reportage, show, contest) with classic science communication.<\/b><\/p>
